Robert Louis Stevenson is quoted as saying "Do not judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant." We all strive to live fantastic lives. We go to work, earn our income and deliver for our family. In return we harvest the outcomes -- we live in nice houses and have possessions we treasure. We all have our quick tiny globe, in the protective bubble we live in -- we appear following our own.

Our Security Bubble

This small bubble is amazing. It is our security blanket for life. It protects us against anything! It is our armour plating safeguarding us from the undesirable stuff -- we watch the news and when anything undesirable takes place (as is often the case on the news!), our bubble mellows down the fear and numbs the sadness. It wards off anything unpleasant -- youngsters in Africa -- also far away, worldwide warming -- It will not make a significant difference if I do not recycle. If we just place our head down and get on with life, we are fine. It does not impact us. We shut our front doors and leave the unpleasantness outside.

Inspirational Persons

Bob Geldof -- horrified by scenes of starving young children in Africa came up with Live Help -- 16 hours of music for charity. This was followed by a group of musicians who wanted to raise awareness of worldwide warming -- they devised Live Earth. Martin Luther King -- 1 man who was not afraid to stand up and express his views on equal rights. Princess Diana -- she sat on a dying persons bed and held his hand. This 1 compassionate act set out to change our views on HIV and AIDS.

These are all absolutely superb folks who wanted to make a distinction -- they are excellent since of their actions. They went out there and did what they felt they had to do! As a result they have raised awareness and really created a distinction.

Pay It Forward

I do not know if any of you have observed the film Spend it Forward. If you have not I suggest you get a copy it is really inspiring. It is based on the book by Catherine Ryan Hyde and it is about a young boy called Trevor, who is set an assignment at school "to consider of one thing to alter the world", and make it occur.

His notion is to help three individuals do one thing major, a thing that they could not do on their own. Rather than thanking you, this individual then pays it forward by helping one more 3 consumers, and so on. He is honestly aiming it at his teacher, mother and himself, but swiftly it spreads as consumers spend it forward. If those initial three consumers paid it forward to three others, and every subsequent individual paid it forward to 3 other people -- if this occurred each day, by the finish of two weeks that would be more than 4 million 7 hundred and 82 people.

How good would that be?! How amazing would it be to set that thought into action! Nicely, why not? What is stopping us? You do not have to be terrific or popular to make a distinction. Creating a difference starts with every of us, as men and women. A smart person was once quoted as saying -- "No one can do every thing, but everybody can do a thing."

What We Can Do

Make it a each day purpose to do anything -- a thing but tiny it might possibly be:

It can be as very simple as holding open the door for the person behind you.
You could shop for a copy of the large situation and give it back so they can resell it once more!
Drop some flowers off at a nursing residence
Purchase an extra bottle of water with your home buying delivery and give it to the individual who just lugged your buying in!
Recycle
Sponsor an animal charity
Sponsor a children's charity
Volunteer your time

You do not have to even physically do anything -- it can be basically something you say.

Complement a person on what they are wearing.
Even a effortless "properly accomplished" can make a tremendous distinction to the recipient.

As Mother Teresa said --"Kind words can be brief and uncomplicated to speak, but their echoes are truly endless."

The Bigger Picture

As far as I can inform, the planet at this time has got selfish and desensitised. We only be concerned if it impacts our nearest and dearest -- otherwise it is not our issue. Our ancestors produced a difference -- they fought in two planet wars to preserve us 100 % free and to keep us fantastic. But soon after cosseting ourselves away in our own mini world bubbles, can we honestly say we are either?

In case any of you are in any doubt -- we only have one particular life and 1 planet -- this is it! As in the film Pay it Forward -- if you do not like it -- then do some thing to modify it! Step outside your comfort zone. Do 1 little factor presently, say one particular great factor to a person, assist 1 other person. You are element of this globe -- that is why you have a front door -- so you can step into the world and into the larger picture.

We might only have a single life and one planet but we have an immeasurable quantity of strategies to make a distinction. As one particular individual you can't transform the world, but you can adjust the globe of one particular person.
