RIDESHARE ETIQUETTE

1) Be good - Be good to your driver. Offer to drive if they want help and you are capable of it. Don't complain about space and the music. Don't fart in their car. Use common sense. Help them load there stuff. When you get to playa, be able to direct them to our camp and then unload as fast as you can so that they can move on.

2) Be on time - this is super key. People have lots to do, and you are getting a favor from them. Clearly communicate with them about the times (both driver and rider), and make sure to be there. On the other hand, be considerate if the driver is late. Its BM, shit happens, we are all on a tight schedule.

3) Baggage - Make sure that your driver/passenger knows exactly what you have or how much space is available. Cars out to BM are packed tight. Dont just show up with a bike, with no warning, and expect the driver to fit it in. Thats pretty rude.

4) Stops - if you are a rider, dont ask the driver to make stops for you so that you can shop in Reno. You should find out before hand what stops the driver is making, and see if you can go with them on their schedule. No one wants to be bothered making a food/bike/water stop AGAIN after they did all that. As above, clear communication is the key here.

5) MONEY - If you are getting a ride, expect to pay. Its expensive to rent a car. Gas is expensive. Cleaning the car is a bitch and a half. Do not wait to be asked, please offer. If you are going both ways with someone, its fair to pay your share of their total cost (if you are 1/4 of the people in the car, that is 1/4, etc). Take luggage and such into account with this, and any stops that you are asking the driver to make for you. Total cost means rental fee, gas, cleaning fee, etc. ask in advance how much that all is. If you are going one way with someone, you should still chip in. $50-$75 dollars is probably the minimum you should expect to pay for a one way trip to/from BM/Reno, but it can easily be $100 or a bit more. Do not try and be cheap on someone else's dime, that is called taking advantage.

6) Be smart, be safe - If you are riding with someone you don't know and you are not feeling safe, don't take the ride. You can always find another one in Reno somewhere. Its not worth the risk of getting killed or spending hours feeling really uncomfortable because your driver is drinking, is a creep, or whatever.

7) Have Fun, Be Fun - make friends, be a fun person. Everyone loves a fun person.
