Hi, Gearóid here, that's pronounced Gar-(like in "garbage")-rode, but I go by G or G-man which has been my dj name since the early 90's. I'm from Dublin, Ireland. I came to New York in 1987 for a holiday, on my way to live in Berlin. I found the East Village and haven't left.

I've been producing multimedia performance artworks under the name screaMachine for over 20 years (check it out at [[1]]). You will also find me on facebook as Gerhardt DeKunst.

My first Burn was 2008. Liana (Lianimal) and I camped with a truly crappy camp (name withheld), but because we had so many friends in KK, we mostly hung out there. In 2009 we camped with KK and did early arrival. I was construction lead and helped build the frontage as well as my own part of the frontage where I did a screaMachine art installation with video animations. (See [[2]]). I also helped build shower units and shade structures. As it was a particularly windy year, I was available to help KK podders figure out reliable ways to shore up their tents and shade structures which were getting flattened by the high winds. I have a multimedia art bike and bring bike tools, so am able to help podders fix their bikes, or put them together after disassembling for shipping (handlebars, pedals and front wheels should be removed for boxing the bike).

I've been helping produce KK events for over 3 years, having first met everyone through my fiance Liana. Prior to that I was mostly hanging out in the Drum'n'Bass scene, which I have been part of since the early 90's. I have a long history in stage production, having worked in Theatre, Film, Video, Fashion Runways and mega parties. By 2000 I was the planner and production manager for the biggest exclusive party company in the states. We did weddings, charitable fundraisers and other multi-million dollar events for the super rich. I produced George Soros' millennium party and the wedding of Mrs. Kellog amongst others; quite an evolution from being an illegal immigrant day laborer picking up jobs loading trucks for theatre production companies in the late 80's. Then in 2000 I made an about turn and took the job of Director of the Computer Studio in Cooper Union School of Art, which I continue to do. I also teach in the school of art, the school of architecture and the school of continuing education. I have taught many courses in animation, video editing, photoshop, illustrator, inDesign and more. I know a lot about Apple Macs and am good with electronics (I like to play with el-wire and LED circuits)

Anyway, to try to stem this rant, I'll finish...

Liana and I will be early arrival Friday this year and I'll be working with my Boris on producing the frontage with all able and willing hands. I'll also be doing another frontage screaMachine presentation which will be a kind of video wrapped passageway through which you pass (at night obviously, as it is video projected animations) in order to join my kult. There will be an interactive element inside that starts a video dialog with the participant and enjoins them to throw down their myths and believe in nothing, which evolves into an animated sequence which attempts to show the birth of the universe as a fluctuation in a void, while using voice samples from the movie Svengali to a drum'n'bass beat. should be fun. at the very least it should deliver some eye candy for the needy.
